During the second day of the international Plone Conference in Seattle the new Board of Directors of the Plone Foundation was announced.
Board members were choosen among a list of candidates and voted by the members of the Plone Foundation.
The Foundation and the Board
The Plone Foundation was formed in May 2004 to serve as a supporting organization for Plone. It has the mission to "promote and protect" Plone, that is mainly to support the marketing and developement of Plone and to protect the code and the trademarks of Plone.
The board leaders have to play an active role in the foundation,
bringing their talent and experience with Plone and Plone uses, and taking a real committment in the foundation project.
"I'm excited about this assignment" - says Francesco Ciriaci, managing director of Reflab and new member of the board - " I am happy to be in this team and give my contribution to the Plone Foundation. Time spent working for the community can be a very good time"
The Foundation Goals
Much has been done in the past years to accomplish protection task, and that will always be a primary task for the foundation.
It is a common feeling that twice as much has now to be done for promotion: spreading the brand, let Plone gain visibility and market shares, let users know what a powerful yet usable solution Plone can be.
"There is clearly a focus on marketing issues - says Francesco Ciriaci - and I hope I will be able to help in this field.
Being part of the board can be a very good use of my "mixed skills" in
technology, management and marketing - I really want to help achieving
foudation goals and keep Plone successful doing things I can do best "
