Epson moves to Zope and Plone

Epson Electronic America reasons for choosing Zope application server and Plone CMS

Zope and Plone are the final choice for the new corporate website of Epson Electionic America

EEA's choice comes after a long period of evaluation of company needs and offers of the software market.

The new portal had to be dynamic, easy to mantain and based on solid, "here-to-stay" software. "We did not want to get into something that would be here today and gone tomorrow."  - said EEA Executive Director Roy DaSilva. Moreover EEA didn't want to face "astronomically high prices" for license fees:  they wanted to invest in outsorced developement and internal training instead.

EEA solved the problem turning to Open Source: they decided to use a featured platform as Zope/Plone and looked for a company to provide Open Source custom solutions.

Now EEA is fully comfortable with the Zope/Plone system and keeps looking toward Open Source software. DaSilva says: "As we go forward there are many other applications I think open source will ultimately get into."
